About Wovenmap

Wovenmap is a passive location journal that runs in the background of your phone. It's built on the observation that two adjacent markets — consumer location memory (largely abandoned by Google, Foursquare, and Path) and evidence-grade location proof for family courts and corrections — share a technical foundation but are commercially distinct. Wovenmap serves the polished consumer use case as its product wedge, and unlocks the evidence tier for the moments when "where was I, exactly" becomes a question with stakes.

Founder quote

"Every divorced parent I talked to had the same problem: when something went wrong with custody, they were stuck reconstructing the day from text messages and gut memory. Apps like OurFamilyWizard make you type that history in by hand. Apps like Life360 sell it to advertisers. We thought there was a quieter middle ground — your phone already knows where you went; it just takes a 30-line hash chain to make that record evidence-grade."

— James Oday, founder

The problem we're solving

22M+ American kids live in split-custody arrangements with court-ordered visitation schedules. Every deviation becomes a "your word against mine" dispute that consumes attorney hours and emotional energy. The existing co-parenting communication tools cost $99–$144/year and require both parents to manually log entries, which neither parent does reliably. Meanwhile the broader category of probation alternatives is dominated by ankle-monitor vendors whose products are stigmatizing, battery-dependent, and frequently malfunction.

Our approach

Wovenmap runs in the background of an iPhone using iOS significant-change and visit-monitoring APIs — the same battery-friendly primitives Apple uses for Maps Frequent Locations. Each location ping is bound to the previous one via SHA-256 hash, forming a tamper-evident chain. Daily report PDFs include the chain plus an HMAC signature from Wovenmap's server-held key. Court use is supported by an expert-witness affidavit-on-demand service.
